Borlase will join the agency on July 7 and report to Michael Howatson, executive creative director at SapientNitro. According to the agency, Borlase will work on a variety of accounts, including several in the automotive sector.

The appointment comes as the agency’s creative team is “growing significantly” following Howatson joining the team earlier this year.

Of the hiring, Howatson told Marketing he’s excited to have such a “strong creative leader” joining SapientNitro. “His great creative chops, his commitment, and his passion are outstanding. Most significantly: his philosophy is such a perfect fit for where we are going as an agency. I’m personally really stoked with what he brings to our growing team,” he said.”

Most recently a creative director at Cossette, Borlase has a long history in the Canadian ad industry working on high profile brands like Coca-Cola, General Motors, Microsoft and Rogers.

Prior to his two-year tenure at Cossette, Borlase was digital creative director at Kolody. He also spent six years as co-creative director of Bos Advertising and held positions at Maclaren McCann, Publicis and Palmer Jarvis.
