Christina Litz‘s career has held a steady upward trajectory at the Canadian Football League. After joining the league in 2014, she was made vice-president of content and marketing in October of last year. This week, she added and “S” to that VP title.
When she first came aboard, Litz was tasked with modernizing the CFL’s digital assets and managing its broadcast relationships (she arrived from Corus Entertainment, where she had been VP, digital content and engagement).
Litz was one of the architects of the CFL’s partnership with Whistle Sports, expanded its relationships with social platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, and has been at the forefront of its efforts to court younger sports fans with a content-heavy strategy.
“Our strategic plan places a huge emphasis on developing the content and supporting the distribution channels that keep us connected to our avid fans and enable us to attract new fans, including the next generation of fans,” said league commissioner Jeffrey Orridge, in a statement. “Shoulder to shoulder with our clubs, Christina is leading this work.”
Litz’ promotion was one of several the league announced Wednesday. Aside from Litz, David Cuddy became senior vice-president of finance and business operations, Kevin McDonald was made vice-president of football operations and player safety, and Glen Johnson was named senior vice-president of football “responsible and accountable for all activities and deliverables for our game,” the league said.
