DDB switches up its creative ranks

Kevin Drew Davis is off to Chicago while Cosmo Campbell fills in the gap

The executive ranks at DDB Canada are playing musical chairs.

After a year as chief creative officer at DDB, Kevin Drew Davis is headed to DDB Chicago, where he will take on a senior vice-presidency and executive creative director role on the agency’s U.S. McDonald’s business.

Drew Davis’ jump to the U.S. left a vacancy in the CCO role at DDB Canada that will now be filled by current ECD of DDB Canada Vancouver, Cosmo Campbell. His co-creative director at DDB’s Vancouver office, Dean Lee, will continue to lead that office’s creative team as a solo ECD.

As CCO, Campbell will be tasked with leading the hunt for new business. He’ll also lead the creative team across all disciplines. Specifically, he’s been tasked with leading the Volkswagen account, which DDB won earlier this month.

In a release, DDB Canada president David Leonard said, “Cosmo’s proven senior leadership comes with an unparalleled depth in creative horsepower; he cares deeply about our people, our clients and our brand – I know he will excel in his new role as national chief creative officer.

“We have a heritage of cultivating in-house talent, being committed to succession planning, and promoting from within,” he continued. “Cosmo’s new appointment builds upon this foundation.”

Speaking to Drew Davis’ appointment in the U.S., Leonard added, “Kevin’s expertise is an ideal fit for this role, and this appointment speaks to one of the benefits of operating within a global network where we can pull the right talent for the right opportunity across borders.”

“Kevin has been committed to steering DDB Canada’s creative brand, and we now wish him the best on his new journey.”
