Dentsu Aegis Network has named Philip Filippopoulos as its chief financial officer responsible for the company’s books in Canada.
Filippopoulos will report to Dentsu Aegis Network Canada’s chief executive Annette Warring and the global company’s chief financial officer for the Americas, Dave Wein.
He was most recently CFO and executive vice-president at BBDO Canada, where he oversaw the agency’s double-digit growth and the establishment of Juniper Park.
Filippopoulos said he’s happy to join Dentsu Aegis Network, citing the company’s “unparalleled global scope” and “innovative agility to drive performance” in local markets.
“I look forward to contributing to the evolution of the business,” he said in a release. He starts his new job Jan. 18.
Dentsu Aegis Network said Filippopoulos would work with senior leaders to “develop strategy and lead strategic initiatives to accelerate overall growth,” while at the same time overseeing its finances.
Filippopoulos will replace Louise Gauthier, who has been named to a new position of executive vice-president, group profitability management.
Gauthier has been behind Dentsu Aegis Network Canada’s explosive growth in recent years, including the network’s expansion of brands to 10 agencies from two, as well as four acquisitions.

The news comes a week after Dentsu Aegis Network said it was buying Toronto-based Grip and plans to make 2016 a year of transition and growth.
Warring told Marketing the company planned to double its employee roster in the next two years through acquisitions and business development.
