Environics Communications has hired Chris McCluskey as a senior consultant in its government relations practice in Ottawa.
Chris brings more than ten years of communications expertise including government communications and journalism. He is charged with enhancing the team’s robust government relations efforts and further contributing to the integrated offerings of the agency.
“Environics prides itself on its integrated offerings and superior client servicing,” said Bruce MacLellan, chairman and CEO of Environics Communications, in a statement. “Chris’s breadth of experience embodies this philosophy to the core, and his skill set will be a valuable addition for our clients.”
Prior to joining Environics, McCluskey was director of communications to federal ministers responsible for national security, energy and mining. He was also acting chief of staff to the minister responsible for defence procurement.
Most recently, he led communications for Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, developing strategic plans for ministerial communications, and advocating for Canadian energy and jobs at home and internationally. Prior to that, he was responsible for the planning and promotion of announcements on new equipment and capabilities for the Canadian Armed Forces.
Before arriving in Ottawa, McCluskey freelanced for FoxSports.com, SportsIllustrated.com and XM Satellite Radio and was a music columnist for The Coast, Halifax’s arts and culture weekly.
“Chris brings yet another dimension to our government relations team,” said Greg MacEachern, senior vice-president of government relations at Environics Communications. “His extensive background, from government communications to sports and culture journalism, will no doubt be a constant value-add for clients.”
