Hill+Knowlton bolsters teams in Ottawa and Toronto

Laura Kurkimaki, Anjum Nayyar and Natalia Banoub join the public relations firm

A former issues manager in the office of former Prime Minister Stephen Harper has been hired at Hill+Knowlton Strategies’ Ottawa office.

Laura Kurkimaki joins as a senior consultant with the corporate and public affairs team.

Kurkimaki was the issues manager in the PMO from September 2013 until last month. Before that, she was the Conservative Party’s manager of field operations national outreach coordinator for one year and its national outreach coordinator from 2010 to 2012.

In Toronto, Anjum Nayyar joins H+K as a senior consultant with the corporate affairs team. Having worked in both print and broadcast journalism, she brings a deep understanding of strategic and tactical communications planning as well as media relations. With vast experience in the social media, digital and blogging arena, she is regarded as an online influencer.

Nayyar launched and was editor-in-chief of Masalamommas magazine, an online magazine for moms with a South Asian connection.  She was also a digital communications specialist at the Canadian Diabetes Association and a communications correspondent at the University of Toronto. As well, Nayyar was a health reporter and anchor for OMNI Television, South Asian Edition.

Also in Toronto, Natalia Banoub joins as consultant in consumer marketing. She was previously an account coordinator at Argyle Public Relationships from January 2014 until last month.
