Toronto’s Fuse Marketing Group has announced two key hires in a bid to muscle up its social and digital marketing team.
Framing the executive hires as a part of a larger shift toward content creation, Laurie Dillon-Schalk and Adam Bleau have come on board.
Digital media veterans Bleu and Dillon-Schalk were both previously at creative content agency Evidently, with the latter spending less than a year there.
In a press release, Fuse said it was “doubling down” on the digital side of its business.
“Last year was a banner year for Fuse, with a tremendous growth surge, key hires and internal promotions,” said Fuse Marketing Group president Stephen Brown.
“We also noted a need among our clients to delve deeper into data science, brand storytelling and offer greater breadth in digital content,” he said.
Brown added that the “two industry powerhouses” will allow Fuse to offer clients a more robust digital program.
Meanwhile, Dillon-Schalk said that her work will focus on connecting the dots between emerging digital platforms and the need for brands to tell stories in new ways.
“There is a tremendous gap today between understanding how social platforms work, how they continuously evolve, and how to target audiences together with what kind of informal, personable creative will be engaging enough to audiences,” she said.
Behind-the-scenes, it’s not clear how the simultaneous departure of two employees from one agency to another played out.
But the indication is that Fuse reached out first—indeed, the company’s blog states that Fuse had tapped “top brass” from a “global digital storytelling firm.”
A request for comment from Evidently was not immediately returned on Tuesday afternoon.
When asked about the shift, Bleau noted in a media release that Fuse was making “impressive” commitments and investments in digital technology and innovation.
