KBS hires Brenda Surminski to lead film production

New position marks the Grand Prix winner's return to advertising

BrendaSurminski-kbsoTORKBS has a new head of broadcast in Toronto.

Brenda Surminski joins the firm with more than two decades of experience in broadcast production, having worked at agencies such as Ogilvy & Mather, Leo Burnett and Roche.

Surminski’s work for Ogilvy & Mather Toronto from 2000 to 2010 included multiple-award-winning campaigns for Unilever’s Dove brand. Her most notable work was on “Evolution,” a 2007 broadcast and digital campaign that went viral, and won two grand prix Lions in film and cyber at 2007 Cannes Festival (not to mention sweeping the Marketing Awards the following year).

Since leaving Ogilvy in 2010, Surminski has been running an executive search agency, MullerSurminski, with co-founder Sonja Muller. The move to KBS marks her return to advertising.

In the newly created role of head of broadcast at KBS, Surminski will oversee all aspects of film and video production for clients like Target, BMO and The Keg.
