McDonald, who joined Toronto-based Match last year as vice-president of strategy and business development, will now oversee promotions as well as the digital and social practices.

Greg succeeds Chris DiFonzo, who will continue on in his role, but will also work with managing partners in the U.S. and Canada to optimize the agency’s strategy and marketing services.

“Greg’s appointment and the new role for Chris signifies the next step in the evolution of Match as we continue to add new capabilities and geographic reach to what is already North America’s leading shopper marketing agency,” said Brett Farren, president and CEO of Match in a statement.

Prior to joining the agency, McDonald served as senior director, national trade marketing for Labatt Breweries, and before that held sales roles at Coca-Cola Enterprises. He also held senior roles in both sales and marketing within the North American chocolate division at Mars Inc.

Founded more than ten years ago, Match Marketing Group’s client roster includes Mars, Pepsi, Adidas, Ford, Energizer and Yum Brands.
