New hires and new business at Grey Canada

Toronto office ushers in eight new employees, the bulk of which are creatives

GREY Hires 1 9Grey Canada is kicking off 2016 with a slew of new hires to help work on recent project wins with brands such as HSBC bank, the Ontario Government and Brown-Forman global tequila portfolio.

Grey hired eight new people in its Toronto office in recent weeks, six of which are in the creative department.

“Grey’s had tremendous momentum over the past couple of years, both nationally and globally,” stated Grey chief creative officer Patrick Scissons in a release. “We’re focused on recruiting best-in-class talent that can continue to build on that with work that touches the cultural sweet spot. That’s what’s proven to be so successful for our clients.”

The new hires include Joel Arbez, who joins the agency as creative director. He comes from Saatchi & Saatchi where he was recognized for his work on“Gay Sweater,” public service work for the LGBT community, as well as car company Toyota.

Grey also hired Ryan McNeill as art director. McNeill was previously at Union, where he held the same title and worked on brands such as CREA, Kraft and Infiniti.

Other creative teams that have come on board include Oliver Brooks and Mike Richardson from Sid Lee, and Sara Radovanovich and Perle Arteta, who joined the agency in December 2015 from Sandbox and Cossette respectively.

Pablo Mellognio was hired as developer from SociMedia and Nevena Djordjevic as account director. Djordjevic came over from Zulu Alpha Kilo, where she worked on brands such as Bell, NABS and Alterna Savings.

“All together the team bring with them diverse digital design and content development, editorial and PR pedigree,” said Grey, which is part of the Grey Group advertising network.

The moves follow new hires the agency announced last spring in both Toronto and Vancouver.

Grey said back then it was expanding its technology-focused business by hiring Marc Cattapanm as director of technology and user experience in Toronto, along with Lisa Chen-Wing as associate creative director in the company’s Vancouver office.
