On the Move: Changes at BBDO, The Globe and Mail, Rogers Media

A weekly recap of who's headed where in Canadian marketing and communications

The Globe and Mail announced NATALIE MCDUFF as the national advertising sales manager, Montreal. Previously at TC Media, McDuff served as the general sales manager of consumer advertising, where she implemented sales strategies and launched the iPad editions of publications including ELLE Canada. She brings experience in marketing, media and sales management, having also served as a national advertising director at Rogers Media.

McDonald’s Canada hired JONATHAN CHIRIBOGA as a digital marketing manager. He was previously a marketing manager at Home Depot Canada for three years, where he was responsible for traditional and digital marketing.

Rogers Communications announced MARK SHAPIRO as the new president and CEO of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Rogers Centre. Following the completion of the 2015 season, Shapiro will replace retiring president and CEO Paul Beeston. Shapiro spent 24 seasons with the Cleveland Indians, the last five of which were as president.

Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) named MARK COHON as the chairman of the board for The Juno Awards, MusiCounts and CARAS. The former CFL commissioner will begin his tenure at the end of September, and will bring his experience in raising the profile of brands and delivering successful results. Cohon was named to the Order of Ontario in 2013.

Swerve Public Relations Inc. added MARGARET BOURNE as its account director. She has more than 15 years of experience in public relations and marketing communications, and was most recently a senior account director at Praxis. In the past, Bourne worked with clients like Amazon.ca, Gap Canada and Conair Canada. At Swerve, she will help the agency expand into new industries and provide insight and counsel to clients.

Loopmedia promoted STEFANY BAKELAAR to associate producer and hired KELSEY MCGRATH as production coordinator. Bakelaar, who’s been with the company for less than two years, has worked with clients like PortsToronto, Pascoe Canada, Oxford Properties and Haywood Gordon. McGrath most recently worked at Spin VFX.

Anstice Communications added MEGAN ROKOSH as vice-president and partner. At the Calgary-based integrated communications firm, Rokosh will act as the strategic and creative director for client work, as well as director of operations. She comes from Rogers Media, where she most recently directed national strategy on the brand team.

BBDO promoted 30 Under 30 alumnus DEREK BLAIS to vice-president and associate creative director. He’s been with the agency for three years.
