On The Move: Changes at Cult Collective, National, Fuse

A weekly update of who's headed where in Canadian marketing and communications

KBS Canada added LORRI MACDONALD as VP of client service and LAURA KIM as executive creative director. MacDonald was most recently the VP group account director at BBDO, where she was responsible for the management and overall strategic direction of the Visa account. Kim came from Sid Lee where she was the co-creative director at the Montreal, Amsterdam and Toronto offices.

National Public Relations appointed RONALD ALEPIAN as SVP of corporate and financial communications in Toronto, and brought on NINI KRISHNAPPA as VP of Toronto corporate communications. Alepian will continue his role as GM of National Equicom, the investor relations branch of the company. Krishnappa was most recently a corporate communications director at BMO, and has driven communications programs in financial services, technology and consumer packaged goods.

JWEE PENG TAN was named Cult Collective’s new VP, ideation. He began his 20-year advertising career at Saatchi & Saatchi, where he led accounts for brand such as HP, VISA, Toyota and Sony. Since then, he has worked at Heineken as a global marketer for Tiger Beer.

Fuse Marketing Group promoted two in its executive team. PATRICK WEIR, who has been with the Toronto agency for three years, is now SVP of creative and innovation. He is leading Fuse’s overall creative product, video production, dynamic social content creation as well as digital and XM innovations. Weir has two decades of experience working with clients such as CIBC, Molson Coors, Canadian Tire and Kraft. After serving as director of client services for three years, and with 14 years industry experience, BRIE TAYLOR assumed the role of VP of client services.

JOE SZABO recently left BBDO to start a content marketing and social media partnership called Joe & Co. At BBDO, he was VP of user experience, and has worked in the user experience and strategy industry for over 15 years. As a partner at Joe & Co., Szabo will be focused on creating experiences that drive customer interaction and interest.
