On The Move: Changes at HBC, AOL, Yulu Public Relations

A weekly update of who's headed where in Canadian marketing and communications

Advertising and marketing executives PAUL WALES and BILL MOIR have created Upstream Content Creation, a Toronto-based creative content provider. Wales and Moir are best known for helping to build the beloved Tim Hortons brand as executive vice-president and creative director and CMO, respectively. Upstream says it is “not a traditional ad agency, nor a traditional production company,” but “a creative solutions company, specializing in content that is customer centric and dedicated to building impactful messaging and imagery for brands.”

Hudson’s Bay Company appointed ED BURSTELL as head of partnerships. In this newly created position, Burstell will develop and lead partnerships across all of HBC’s banners globally. He joins HBC after eight years with Liberty of London where he was instrumental in revitalizing the brand, contributing to its double-digit year-over-year growth. Previously, Burstell was a senior vice-president at Bergdorf Goodman.

LUIZ BRAZ was named AOL’s new head of platforms and publisher services for the Americas. He will be responsible for strategic growth and driving revenue through the ONE by AOL platform for advertisers and publishers in Canada and Brazil. Based in Toronto, Braz will implement the commercial direction of AOL’s programmatic strategy. Braz was most recently country manager at MAP, IPG Mediabrands’ advertising technology unit.

Yulu Public Relations brought on SANDY WONG as senior account manager. She has almost two decades of experience in marketing and communications, and has spearheaded campaigns in the venture capital and investment industries for companies such as Franklin Templeton Investments, RBC and Hager & North.
