On The Move: Changes at Staples, Square and Thinkingbox

A weekly update of who's headed where in Canadian marketing and communications

STEVE MATYAS was named Staples’ president of North American retail. He held the role of president of Staples Canada since 2000, and will continue to serve as a member of the company’s executive committee. Matyas has spent 25 years with the organization, and was the first employee of Business Depot in Canada in 1991.

Thinkingbox promoted three employees at its Toronto and Vancouver offices. TROY GRAHAM was named executive creative director after six years with the company, JUSTIN DESJARDINS was named associate director of software, and CHRISTINE CLARK was named senior producer and will move from the Vancouver to the Toronto office. These promotions follow the announcement that Vancouver-based Stern Partners has made an investment in the creative and digital production studio, in addition to a string of hires earlier this month.

LESLIE JACKSON was announced as Square’s new communications manager. She was formerly an account supervisor at Ketchum Public Relations working with clients MasterCard, Dell SMB and Philips. She will be based in the company’s Toronto office.

Kaiser Lachance Communications brought on MATT ROTH as senior director, where he will serve as account lead for clients in the enterprise software, information security and IT infrastructure sectors.
