On The Move: Promotions at Praxis and RBC

A weekly recap of who's headed where in Canadian marketing and communications

RBC promoted REBECCA LOUZADO from manager of client acquisition to director of cultural and community marketing. In the new role she will lead the development and execution of Toronto’s donations, sponsorship and local marketing strategies. The role will activate on national strategies whilst focusing on strategic initiatives that are unique to the Toronto market.

Praxis promoted MICHELLE BIGDA to senior account executive and RILEY McGILVRAY to account coordinator. Bigda manages the Edrington account, promoting its portfolio of Scotch whiskies and rums, and also works on one of the agency’s hospitality clients, The Omni King Edward Hotel. McGilvray recently completed a five-month internship with the PR firm.

Carter Hales Design Lab in Vancouver brought on NATHAN SHUBERT-HARBISON as a senior developer to bolster its interactive team to meet the ever-increasing demand for digital services. Specializing in custom WordPress sites, front-end development, JavaScript and PHP, Shubert-Harbison brings a wealth of experience and digital expertise to his new role. In the past he worked as a web developer at Lift Studios, Little Penguin Studio, and most recently, Domain7.

Cymax, a technology-focused furniture e-tailer, hired RIZWAN SOMJI as its new VP of technology; GRANT MCTAGGART as VP of merchandising and marketing; and NATHANIEL PAYNE as senior director of data analytics. Somji, formerly the VP of engineering at ResponseTek Networks, brings 15 years of experience leading technology teams. McTaggart has more than 25 years of experience in merchandising and consumer behaviour, most recently as a VP at Best Buy Canada. Payne’s 15 years of experience in cloud computing and analytics will advance the Vancouver company’s technology and growth.

TP1 added ALEXANDRE CAYLA as a senior digital strategist and EMMANUEL DURAN CAMPANA as an account director. Cayla, who worked previously at Adviso, Digito and Nurun, has five years of experience in providing digital strategy and performance measurement for clients like Air Canada, Rogers and National Bank of Canada. Duran Campana began working as a social media consultant for the Parisian agency Balistik#Art, then moved on to become a digital strategist and a CEO for Same Same But Different.
