A recap of who’s headed where in Canadian marketing communications.

J.J. HOCHREIN joined Lee Valley Tools Canada as VP marketing. He was most recently associate vice-president of strategic marketing at Canadian Tire and prior to that held the director of marketing position at Telus. He has also worked agency side with stints at Cundari, Lowe Roche and Arnold Worldwide.

SAXX Underwear hired ROSS MACHAIL as its Canadian sales manager, responsible for sales leadership and strategies. MacHail spent the last three years with Columbia Sportswear Canada as national accounts manager for Western Canada. He also worked with Nike Canada for over 20 years, having held senior roles in sales and product management.

Twist Marketing appointed MELISSA GALLAGHER as vice-president, Ontario to spearhead customer service and build its Toronto office. Gallagher joined the agency from Cundari where she managed the Subway, Toronto Zoo and 3M accounts.

Parcel Design in Toronto promoted SHEENA MOTA from account manager to account director after only two years with the Toronto brand strategy and design firm.

Smak welcomed ALENA HAKANSSON and LAUREN GREENWOOD as account manager and account coordinator, respectively. Hakansson is responsible for campaign planning and execution and growing the agency’s business. Greenwood oversees day-to-day account planning.

After four years as senior publicist and social media manager with Rock-it Promotions in Toronto, ABIGAIL VAN DEN BROEK joined Drake Hotel Properties to handle public relations and publicity efforts for The Drake Hotel, Drake One Fifty, Drake General Stores and Drake Devonshire, which is opening this summer.

DEVIN MOORE has left Blue Ant to join Bacardi Global in London as its global social manager working with brands such as Grey Goose and Bombay Sapphire, among others. Moore spent the past year as Blue Ant Media’s strategy manager. Prior to that he was a digital strategist at Jumpwire Media.

Olson added eight new members to its Toronto office. LAM YEUNG, BOWIE SHUM and DYLAN BELYK joined the creative team, DYLAN SCOTT, CHRIS WONG and MINKEUN KIM joined the technology team, while HAROON ASLAM and MICHELLE JONES joined as business analyst and account coordinator, respectively.

JENNIFER ELIAS joined GCI Group as director of its consumer lifestyle practice. Elias brings more than 10 years of experience that spans a variety of sectors including technology, telecom, publishing, and agri-business. Prior to joining GCI, Elias was the senior manager of communications at Wind Mobile.

CHRIS SHEBIB joined Yconic, a Toronto-based agency that helps brands make meaningful connections with youth, as its VP, products & solutions. Shebib most recently led the product management and strategic partnership activities for several digital product lines within TC Media.

Citizen Relations’ Toronto office welcomed JEAN LEPINE as EVP and deputy GM. Lepine has held senior management roles at HARMAN, AB InBev, AstraZeneca and, most recently, Blue Goose Pure Foods.

RDS appointed MARK ANTHONY DI CIO sales director, English Canada and United States. From 1999 to 2004, Di Cio worked for Netstar Communications, Bell Globemedia and TSN, holding positions such as traffic coordinator, sales coordinator and sales representative. For the past 10 years, he was senior account manager at Telelatino Network Inc.
