Toronto startup Wattpad hired MELISSA SHAPIRO as its first head of global marketing to oversee marketing, communications and branding initiatives. Shapiro ran global PR for Mozilla from 2007-2012 and most recently headed her own marketing consultancy. She has also held positions at SparkPR, Outcast Communications and Edelman.
JWT Canada hired four and promoted one within its Toronto office. Both MATT SYBERG-OLSEN and GARY WESTGATE joined the agency as VP creative directors. DEAN FOERTER was appointed VP, head of integrated marketing and CRAIG HUM was appointed director, business insights & analytics. Meanwhile, RYAN SPELLISCY was promoted to SVP, executive creative director.
Juice Mobile added two new members to its team in Toronto. ANDREA TOPPING joined as senior account executive. She was most recently with AOL Canada as its mobile sales lead. Meanwhile, BEN HEMMING joined Juice Mobile as an account executive from Yahoo.
One Twenty Three West welcomed three members to its team. The Vancouver agency appointed JONATHAN LONGWORTH as vice-president, managing director and DANIELLE HAYTHORNE and DOMINIC PREVOST as associate creative directors.
CAMERON GORDON left his director, corporate development position at Hill+Knowlton Strategies and joined Zeno Group as senior account director. He has also worked at High Road Communications and CIBC.
Match Marketing Group appointed PATTI KYRZAKOS as director of client service. Kyrzakos spent the last 16 years with Mosaic Group, recently holding the senior manager, operations position.
Bell Media announced the impending departure of LUC SABBATINI, the media company’s president of sales. Sabbatini is credited with the merger of the Bell and Astral sales teams into one multiplatform sales group. His replacement will be announced this fall.
