New hires at Red

Red The Agency added CRAIG REDMOND as creative director for both its Edmonton and Vancouver offices. Redmond has been freelancing the last two years and before that worked with Concerto, Grey Vancouver and BBDO. Red also welcomed CHRIS PHILLIPS as director of media to help clients plan and place digital media. Phillips comes from Wasserman + Partners, where he was a senior digital planner. Also joining the team are LEANNA CRAWFORD and MIKE NOWLAND, who will lead the agency’s digital practice as director of experience design and associate creative director, respectively. ELIZABETH TOTH, former producer for CTV, Disney and Taxi, joins as senior creative producer.

National Public Relations hired DEBORAH INKPEN to lead its St. John’s office in Newfoundland. Inkpen has a strong background in crisis communications and issues management, with 20 years experience in public affairs and government communications. Her most recent role was VP of communications for the Newfoundland & Labrador Oil & Gas Industries Association (NOIA), and before that  she served as director of communications for the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission.

Mediative, the digital media and technology arm of Yellow Pages Group, added two directors to its roster: PINO GATTO as director of technology operations and BRAD KRIEGER as director of data and insights. Gatto comes from Rogers Digital Media Group, where he was director of ad ops. His background in ad ops also includes positions at CBC, CanWest and CTV. Krieger joins from Amnet Canada, where he led Dentsu Aegis’ Canadian programmatic trading operations for the past year.

MIKE ARMSTRONG joined CBC/Radio-Canada as associate director of sports marketing, under senior director of marketing Jim Kozak. Armstrong will be responsible for development and execution of marketing strategies around all CBC sports programs, including the 2015 Pan Am Games and 2016 Rio Olympics. Most recently, Armstrong was senior brand manager for Budweiser at Labatt Breweries; before that he worked at Kraft Foods.
