Cheil Canada has brought Scott Suthren on board as vice-president of planning to help the agency further develop its growing client roster.
Suthren will “lead the charge in solving our clients’ business challenges through insight and collaboration,” Cheil Canada president Matt Cammaert told Marketing in an email.
“Our trajectory continues to shape around digital, tech and innovation – Scott will be a critical contributor and leader to help us propel forward in these areas.”
Suthren’s previous job was director of strategic planning at Innocean Worldwide Canada and before that he was digital strategy director at The&Partnership, among other previous roles. Suthren replaces Meghan Sherwin, who left for Maclaren.
Cammaert described Suthren as “a rare breed of planner,” with a mix of user experience and design as well as strategy and planning.
Cammaert said Suthren would work with all clients and contribute to new business, but much of his time will be working with Samsung and BMO. Some of the agency’s other clients include Pizza Nova, Yokohama, St. Elizabeth and Human Rights Watch.
The 42-person agency also recently hired Emma Mazerall as community manager. Her last position was social media producer with Vice.
Cammaert said the agency would also on the hunt for a vice-president/senior vice-president creative director with a digital focus.
