Jack Bauer didn’t utter his signature “dammit” until well into the second hour of his return to the small screen this week after a four-year absence. Global Television’s rivals were probably saying it after seeing BBM Canada’s overnight ratings.

The Kiefer Sutherland drama 24: Live Another Day was the most-watched show in Canada Monday, as 1.5 million and 1.3 million viewers 2+ tuned into the first two episodes, respectively, according to PPM overnight data.

The first episode of the Fox Television series was the most-watched drama of the night nationally. The show’s return also sparked considerable online activity, with the hashtag #jackbauer trending nationally and “24” emerging as the evening’s top-ranked search term.

24’s return also proved a lead-in for the penultimate episode of this season’s breakout hit The Blacklist, which drew 1.5 million viewers and won the night in the adult 18-49 demo with 650,000 viewers.
