AOL Canada‘s Graham Moysey has a new global role at the company as head of international that will see him relocating from Toronto to AOL’s London office.

In January 2013 Moysey was promoted to head of AOL’s global “owned and operated” businesses, driving a series of acquisitions including Adap.tv. Following a successful run in that global role, the company selected him as head of its international business to drive its current focus on markets outside the U.S.

As head of AOL’s owned and operated business, Moysey told Marketing he learned about new markets and how AOL’s brands fit into them, knowledge that will help as he begins meeting with AOL’s global brand partners in his new role.

“The Japanese market is very different from the U.K. market, which is different from the Canadian market. It has been interesting to gain an understanding of those market subtleties and figure out how to tweak our business operations to take advantage of those,” he said.

Moysey will now report to AOL Networks CEO Bob Lord and AOL Brands CEO Susan Lyne.

In the interim Moysey will also continue as country manager for AOL Canada, a position the company is currently looking to fill. Moysey joined AOL Canada in 2010, overseeing the launch of The Huffington Post Canada and 12 Canadian properties, including Autoblog Canada, StyleList Canada and Parentdish.ca.

Prior to taking on a country manager role for AOL, Moysey held senior positions at both Canwest (now Postmedia), as senior vice-president and general manager of digital media and with Bell Canada’s Sympatico-MSN, where he served as vice-president of sales and business development.

The announcement follows the appointment of another Canadian media executive, Jordan Banks of Facebook Canada, who was selected to lead Facebook’s global vertical strategy team last week.
