AOL goes outside at NXNE

AOL Canada and its music blog Spinner.ca are set to blanket an outdoor concert at Toronto's North by Northeast Music Festival.

AOL Canada and its music blog Spinner.ca are set to blanket an outdoor concert at Toronto’s North by Northeast (NXNE) Music Festival.

Starting June 13, three tri-vision boards and video ads in the city’s Dundas Square will showcase AOL properties such as Spinner.ca, the new AOL.ca homepage and HuffingtonPost.ca.

The ads will run for eight weeks around the concert, which takes place June 18  and will feature two techno pop bands from the 80s: Devo and Canada’s own Men Without Hats. The video ads will also appear in Toronto’s underground PATH walkway, which connects various shopping and entertainment venues.

AOL also partnered with Shweet.com to create a social media contest, awarding various prizes through Spinner.ca and the MyNXNE mobile app.

“NXNE was the perfect opportunity to reach music lovers with exciting prizes and access to some of the hottest music acts in the city,” said Keith Bates, founder and CEO of Shweet.com, in a release.
