Astral adds Ottawa to growing airport division

Ottawa will be first airport to feature 100% digital advertising company says

Bell Media’s Astral Out-of-Home division has added to its growing airport advertising presence with a new eight-year contract to provide indoor advertising at Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport.

Ottawa is the fifth airport to join the Astral portfolio, pushing its annual reach among lucrative air travelers to more than 43 million people. It is the sixth busiest airport in the country, with 4.6 million passengers in 2014.

Astral Out-of-Home president Luc Quétel called the Ottawa airport “strategically important” for the company, enabling it to reinforce its presence in the capital while reaching decision-makers and government-related travelers, which he called “a great consumer profile.”

In October, Astral will replace all existing advertising infrastructure with digital products, making Ottawa International the first airport in Canada to feature entirely digital advertising.

The company will also deploy its AeroTV product, which will include both French and English content from its sister company CTV. CTV News Ottawa will produce customized news segments updated three times per day.

This year has seen Astral add Vancouver International Airport and Halifax Stanfield International Airport to an existing portfolio that includes Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau and Québec City Jean Lesage.
