Astral Media Outdoor has launched an ad campaign to celebrate the City of Toronto’s successful bid to host the 2015 Pan American Games.

The poster ads, which were developed in-house and use the Pan Am logo along with a “congratulations Toronto” headline, are running on 100 transit shelters across the city for the next week.

“As a partner of the City of Toronto we wanted to congratulate them on the success of winning the PAN AM bid,” said Lara Hannaford, marketing and communications project manager, Astral Media Outdoor. “We like to recognize our partners for their accomplishments and this was huge for Toronto.”

Astral is responsible for all of the outdoor furniture for the city of Toronto including transit shelters and garbage bins.

Toronto was named host city of the Pan American games with 33 votes on Nov. 6. The Games have a $1.4 billion budget for the sporting event itself and $1 billion for an athletes’ village that will be turned into a mixed-income neighbourhood.

“We applaud the City of Toronto for its efforts to bid for and win the Pan American Games–and by such an overwhelming margin,” said Luc Sabbatini, president of Astral Media Outdoor, in a release. “As the City’s partner, we are proud to spread the news of the victory so that all Torontonians can celebrate this exciting achievement.”

Astral was just named one of Marketing’s Media Players of the Year and has said it has a goal to raise its profile in the city of Toronto.
