Every day, the average Canadian internet user spends about an hour watching 10 videos online, according to new numbers from measurement firm comScore.

Once again, comScore named Canadians as the most avid viewers of online video, with users aged 15 and older watching an average of 303.7 videos in October.

That compares to 286.3 videos per user in the U.S., 268.8 in the U.K., about 250 in Germany and Turkey, 222.7 in Japan, 190.1 in France, 178.6 in Spain, 160 in Hong Kong and 153.2 in Singapore.

For TV shows that have ads embedded within, comScore counts each segment of the show as one view.

The amount of time spent watching online video doubled since October 2010, when Canadians spent just under half an hour viewing an average of almost seven videos a day. There were a million more Canadian Internet users viewing web video this October compared to last year.

Canada was second highest when it came to ranking countries that had the largest proportion of its Internet users watching online video.

About 90.9% of Canadian internet users were watching online video in October, compared to 93.6% in Turkey and 90.2% in Chile. Argentina, Brazil, Hong Kong, Spain, U.S., Mexico and France fell within the range of nearly 87% to 89%.
