Blue Ant planning changes for AUX brand?

Outgoing editor says media company is making 'sudden changes' to AUX.tv

Blue Ant Media appears to be making changes at its music brand AUX, though the company declined to comment.

On Monday, AUX.tv editor Jesse Locke tweeted that July 22 would be his last day with the company, following some “sudden changes” made to the site by Blue Ant. Locke’s tweet said the site “will not be continuing in its current form.”

Locke had been a contributor to AUX since 2013, assuming the role of associate editor in June 2015.

“I am very proud of the direction I brought to the site in my nine months as editor,” wrote Locke. “For me, the hardest part is that I won’t be able to continue working in this position with my current group of contributors.”

Blue Ant Media declined interview requests, though a company spokesperson told Marketing via email, “AUX and AUX.tv is still up and running! Tyler Munro is overseeing editorial for the website.”

Munro has a long history with the AUX brand that includes stints as associate news editor and community editor. Blue Ant Media appointed him as its social media manager in December.

Locke said feature stories he assigned “for the next few weeks” would still be published, suggesting Blue Ant had no immediate plans to shutter the site.

Locke has worked in a variety of editorial roles since 2008, including two years as senior editor of the Calgary Herald’s Swerve Magazine and one year as copy editor with the action sports publisher SBC Media.

The AUX brand includes both a specialty TV channel and the AUX.tv website. The AUX specialty channel had revenues of $1.01 million in 2015, according to the CRTC, up from 696,776 in 2014.
