Brunico Communications announced Thursday that it has acquired certain assets relating to the marketing segment of Rogers Media‘s publication business, including Marketing, CARDonline (CARD) and the National List of Advertisers (NLA).

Marketing, along with all of Rogers Media’s B2B titles, was formally put up for sale last month as part of an announcement from Rogers Media that the company was focusing its efforts on English consumer publications, with an emphasis on digital publishing.

The Marketing brand launched in 1908 and includes a quarterly magazine, online daily news and annual conferences and events for the advertising industry, including the Media Innovation Awards and Marketing Awards. CARD and NLA are databases designed to help media agencies and advertisers make informed media buying decisions.

Marketing joins Brunico’s existing marketing, advertising and media industry publications, including Strategy magazine, sStrategy Daily, Media in Canada and stimulant, as well as conferences and award programs like Agency of the Year, Creative Report Card and Shopper Marketing Forum, and partner events like the Cassies.

“We have long enjoyed a friendly rivalry between Strategy and Marketing that has benefited the industry through a competitive focus on evolving content and programs to better serve the audience,” said Russell Goldstein, president and CEO, Brunico. “Now we are excited to welcome the Marketing and CARD/NLA team to Brunico and look forward to combining forces and working with all our partners and industry stakeholders to collaborate on even greater offerings in the years to come.”

Mary Maddever, vice-president and editorial director at Brunico and publisher of Strategy, added, “We are excited to integrate the younger Strategy brand with the heritage Marketing brand to bring the marketing community the best of both.”
