The Calgary Herald increased its circulation almost 10% Monday to Friday in the six months ending Sept. 30 over the same period last year, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations.
The Postmedia Network-owned daily’s numbers went from 119,134 readers to 130,405 in that time. The paper’s growth continues from the previous reporting period, when it was up 2.39% for the six months ending March 31, over a year ago.
Le Devoir in Montreal also continues its circulation growth, boosting its numbers for the six months endingĀ Sept. 30 by 9.08%, from 26,099 to 28,470. Like the Herald, the Montreal-based French-language daily was also up 2.39% in the ABC’s previous reporting period.
Other newspapers with notable increases were The Globe and Mail and Vancouver Sun, up 3.85% and 3.88%, respectively. The Globe went to 313,378 from 301,767, while the Sun was up to 165,630 from 159,438.
Conversely, noteworthy circulation decreases were registered for the Edmonton Journal and Montreal Gazette, with the latter dropping 7.67% from 147,698 to 136,376. The Journal, meanwhile, dropped 6.91% from 112,298 to 104,536.
The National Post‘s circulation fell 2.28% for this reporting period, from 150,883 to 147,442.
Overall, seven newspapers of the 31 included in the ABC report posted circulation gains.
