Canadian Cancer Society re-signs Faulhaber Communications

Faulhaber Communications is on a bit of a roll as of late.

The Toronto agency has been reengaged by the Canadian Cancer Society to support its upcoming Relay for Life campaign, won agency of record status for watchmaker Breitling Canada, and chosen by developer Aragon Properties to promote an upcoming condominium development in downtown Toronto.

Last year, Faulhaber developed the Media Relay for Life in Ontario to support the Canadian Cancer Society’s annual Relay for Life. During the 2015 Media Relay for Life, different social, digital, print and broadcast media outlets promoted the Relay for Life and talked about cancer every day for 31 days.

This year, the Media Relay for Life is going nationwide and for 44 days starting in mid-April, different media outlets will participate in a virtual relay to raise awareness for local Relay for Life events.

Now in its 17th year, the Relay for Life includes hundreds of fundraising events across the country and is one of the Cancer Society’s biggest programs.

Breitling, a heritage brand which has been around since 1884, did not previously have an AOR in Canada. It chose Faulhaber after an RFP.

“As the brand grows here in Canada and becomes more of a focus market for them they need a full-time, integrated agency,” says Christine Faulhaber, president and CEO of the 17-employee agency.

The global heritage brand is sold at selected Birks stores and a number of other jewellers across Canada.

“It’s got a long, long history. It’s really exciting to work with a brand that’s got this many legs,” Faulhaber says.

Faulhaber will focus on product launches and media relations for Breitling and support its 2016 Breitling Jet Team American Tour, which is visiting air shows across North America this year, with stops in Abbottsford, B.C in August and Toronto in September. The Breitling Jet Team consists of seven Czech-made twin-seater military training jets that can reach 910km/h in a dive.

Faulhaber will also promote Eighty One Wellesley, a planned 28-storey condominium with 182 units.

It’s expected to launch this spring with an exclusive real estate brokers’ event. The agency will also handle media relations and creative consumer activations for the project.
