Cannes calls out to Young Lions

Registration for the contest closes Feb. 18.

The Globe and Mail has opened registration for its annual Young Lions and Young Marketers competitions, inviting young creatives, media staffers and marketers to vie for a place in one of the the industry’s pre-eminent awards programs.

Creatives and media planners age 28 and under, as well as marketers 30 and under, are invited to pit their skills against their peers for one of five chances to attend the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

As in past years, creative and media contestants must create advertising or a media plan within a 24-hour window. This year, however, they will also be required to present their work to a live judging panel “in order to mirror the competition in Cannes as closely as possible,” the Globe said.

Young Marketers are being asked to create a brief to be presented to an ad agency. Written submissions will be whittled down to a shortlist of contestants who will likewise make live presentations to judges.

Registration for the contest closes Feb. 18.
