Caroline Verboon returns to Cohn & Wolfe amid hiring streak

Firm's Toronto office adds three other senior counsellors to its team

Public relations veteran Caroline Verboon has returned to Cohn & Wolfe Toronto as senior vice-president after running her own boutique PR firm for the last nine years.

She is one of several recent hires at Cohn & Wolfe’s Toronto office.

Verboon, who will oversee clients in the fashion, beauty and consumer packaged goods sectors, ran The Boom Effect and led programs for clients such as David’s Bridal, Bacardi, Coca-Cola, Amazon Kindle and Nest Learning Thermostats. She is also an instructor at the University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies, where she teaches Foundations of Strategic PR.

Verboon was a senior consultant at Cohn & Wolfe in 1999 and 2000.

Cohn & Wolfe Toronto managing partner David Gordon says Verboon’s return to the agency after a long absence “speaks to the strength of the firm’s culture and entrepreneurial spirit.”

Also hired is senior counsellor Jennifer Obeid, who has 16 years of communications experience. Obeid was communications manager since 2008 at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital.  She was also senior manager of public relations at Cancer Care Ontario and communications advisor at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

In addition, Daniel Cappe has been named senior counsellor, digital. Cappe has developed digital campaigns for clients in the retail, technology, media, healthcare and beauty sectors.

Senior counsellor Lauren Cosentino rounds out the hires. Cosentino was at Harbinger Communications since 2012 as director, client services and senior account manager and was also a senior consultant at Veritas Communications. She has worked for clients such as Subway Restaurants, CBC, Unilever and Wrigley Canada.
