CBC fills sports marketing role

Adam Mitchell the latest to join CBC & Radio-Canada Media Solutions Group

CBC/Radio-Canada has made yet another addition to the CBC & Radio-Canada Media Solutions Group, hiring Adam Mitchell as senior manager, sports marketing. He will report to Mike Armstrong, the public broadcaster’s associate director of sports marketing.

Mitchell’s appointment is effective May 19, with initial responsibilities including aiding with the broadcaster’s Olympic efforts.

Mitchell comes to the CBC from the professional networking firm Ten Thousand Coffees. Prior to that, he held various roles at Labatt Breweries of Canada, including senior brand manager on the Alexander Keith’s and Shock Top brands, and brand manager on the Bud Light and Michelob Ultra brands.

His career also includes a stint with Kraft Foods, where he was brand assistant on the Dentyne and Clorets brands.

In a release, Armstrong said Mitchell brings both marketing expertise and a “start-up mentality” to the new role, noting that they are traits that would “aid tremendously” in bringing creative and innovative marketing solutions to clients.

“As the media landscape is rapidly evolving, there is a pressing need now more than ever to truly understand marketers’ business objectives,” said Armstrong in a release.

Mitchell is Armstrong’s second hire since taking over his current role in November. The company recently hired Mark Thomas, who spent nearly seven years with Ariad Communications as an account director, as manager of sports marketing.
