CBC/Radio-Canada and TVA Sports have announced an agreement that will allow TVA to broadcast portions of CBC-produced French-language programming around the Sochi Winter Olympic Games next year.

According to a statement by CBC/Radio-Canada’s vice-president Louis Lalande, the objective of the deal was to connect as many Canadians as possible to the Games in both official languages.

CBC/Radio-Canada will provide Olympic coverage across multiple platforms, including television, radio, online and mobile. Details about the programming arrangement will become available in the months leading up to the 2014 Winter Games.

Last summer, CBC was awarded the Canadian broadcast rights to the 2014 Winter Games and the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Last month, CBC/Radio-Canada similarly inked an agreement with TVA Sports to secure wider coverage of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil events in the French-language market.
