CBC taps Errol Da-Ré for Olympic sales role

Former Shaw Media sales executive to secure sponsors for Rio Games

Errol Da Re 2Former Shaw Media sales executive Errol Da-Ré has taken on a new role as head of the Olympic sales team for CBC & Radio-Canada. His appointment took effect on Feb. 9.

Da-Ré was previously senior vice-president of sales for Shaw, leaving the company in April 2015 as part of a series of organizational changes. He also worked for Shaw forerunner Alliance Atlantis Communications prior to its 2007 purchase by CanWest Mediaworks.

Reporting into CBC/Radio-Canada’s senior director of marketing and Olympic Games Jim Kozak, Da-Ré will work to bring aboard sponsors for the public broadcaster’s coverage of the upcoming Rio Games.

The appointment comes after the recent announcement that CBC has secured Bell Canada, BMW, Canadian Tire, McDonald’s, Mondelez, Petro-Canada, RBC, Samsung, SportChek and Visa as sponsors for its coverage of the Games.

“Errol brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership and sales strategy from his various past roles in the media industry along with his ability to build partnerships,” said Kozak in a release. “There is no doubt that he will be a valued member of our team for CBC/Radio-Canada’s coverage of Rio 2016 as we continue to bring on sponsors and facilitate participation sales.”
