The CFL announced today that it has partnered with Viigo to offer an interactive real-time information service to its fans.

“[The partnership] is another step in our philosophy of looking for new and innovative ways for our fans to have access to the CFL,” said Chris McCracken, vice president of broadcasting and media assets for the CFL.

The CFL-branded Viigo service will send scores, news and real-time stats to fans via their BlackBerry. Fans can also find schedules and buy tickets through the service.

“A new generation of football fans is demanding new ways of staying connected to the sport they love,” said Viigo CEO Mark Ruddock in a release. “This always-connected, digital generation is looking at its relationship with favorite sports and sports teams in revolutionary new ways.”

Before inking the deal, the CFL researched the types of technology its customers would respond to. McCracken thinks it will appeal to the young tech-savvy demographic, as well as older business people who are heavy BlackBerry users.
