Cohn & Wolfe Montreal has joined forces with National Public Relations in Montreal, in a move that makes business sense, according to the company that owns both firms.
“When we did our annual business analysis of both firms, we concluded that both talent and client bases were complementary,” said Jean-Pierre Vasseur, president and CEO of Res Publica, in a statement. “Integrating Cohn & Wolfe into National in Montreal made business sense, in addition to extending our service offering for the benefit of clients.”
Other Canadian offices of Cohn & Wolfe are not affected by the transaction and continue to operate as part of the global Cohn & Wolfe network.
Cohn & Wolfe Montreal managing partner André Bouthillier becomes executive vice-president of National, where he was senior partner from 1987 to 1995, before co-founding Pyramid Public Relations in 1995, the predecessor of Cohn & Wolfe Montreal.
“National is constantly on the lookout for new talent. The arrival of Cohn & Wolfe’s consultants offers excellent growth prospects, and we welcome them with open arms,” said Serge Paquette, managing partner of National’s Montreal office.
Cohn & Wolfe Montreal lists 11 employees on its website.
Bouthillier wrote in a letter to clients, partners and friends that the move will result in improved offerings for clients in several areas, including digital and integrated communications, healthcare, energy and financial communications.
Clients “will benefit from an extended pool of talent and resources, all the while being served by the same communications professionals that are now joining National,” he said. “For our employees, this merger represents a significant opportunity to further develop their talents and professional networks.”
Existing agreements with clients will be respected.
