dHz Media’s Golden PR opportunity

Calgary-based firm adds tourism marketing organization as a client

Tourism Golden has signed Calgary-based dHz Media to a one-year contract to implement a public relations program to increase awareness about the Golden, B.C. area as a mountain destination.

The agency will conduct local, national and international media relations campaigns for Tourism Golden aimed at boosting attention for major events and shoulder season events such as the Golden Mountain Festival.

“DHz Media brings proven strategic public relations expertise to the table. Its team will up the ante when it comes to differentiating Golden as a travel destination,” said Joanne Sweeting, executive director of Tourism Golden, in a statement. The firm’s “track record and its ability to understand our destination’s proposition, was pivotal in the decision to appoint them.”

Since 2001, dHz Media has worked for several resort destinations and developers in Western Canada, with current and past projects in the Okanagan, Columbia Valley, Vancouver Island, Rocky Mountains and Calgary.

Golden offers a number of year-round activities including skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, biking, white water rafting, golf and proximity to six national parks.

“Golden has so much more to offer than a ski resort and the media relations campaign will strengthen Golden’s positioning as an authentic mountain destination that offers adventures for all tastes,” said Scott Henderson, managing director of dHz Media. “It will help promote longer stays, increased visits and encourage repeat visitations.”

Tourism Golden is a non-profit destination marketing organization that promotes tourism in Golden, which is located 250 kilometres west of Calgary, and the surrounding Kicking Horse Country area.
