The Home Depot Canada announced Thursday afternoon that it has chosen ZenithOptimedia as its new media agency of record.

The agency will provide full media services for the home improvement retailer’s business in Canada.

Initiative Media had been The Home Depot Canada’s agency of record for 10 years.

“We are looking forward to working with ZenithOptimedia in partnership in the increasingly dynamic media world,” said Peg Hunter, vice-president of marketing and communications, The Home Depot Canada.

ZenithOptimedia Canada CEO Sunni Boot told Marketing that the agency was “ecstatic” and noted that Home Depot is recognized for good partnerships. She called the pitching process “one of the best-run and fairest reviews” in which ZenithOptimedia has been involved. “[It was] very thorough and very fair… reflecting the value Home Depot places on their communications partners.”

The review began in early March; five agencies were asked to participate.
