Cameron Williamson has been named the new editor-in-chief of RogersFlare magazine.

Williamson, until recently a style advisor and project editor at The Globe and Mail, is the former editor-in-chief of Glow magazine, a position he held for two years.

Williamson’s appointment comes after former editor-in-chief Miranda Purves left the magazine late last year. After only 18 months in the role, Purves said she left to move back to New York and be with her family.

Steve Maich, recently named senior vice-president and general manager of publishing at Rogers Media, made the announcement Monday and said Williamson is a perfect fit for the job.

“Cameron has the vision to elevate Flare to a leading multiplatform brand that offers audiences a unique and unparalleled Canadian perspective on global fashion, style and culture,” Maich said. “He brings with him strong leadership skills, boundless creativity and a remarkable passion for fashion and beauty.”

Flare, a consumer-focused beauty and fashion magazine, has more than 1.2 million readers. It is currently celebrating its 35th anniversary.
