Geox hires Canadian AOR to boost social, online presence

MacIntyre Communications takes over account from The PR Department

GeoxGeox has selected MacIntyre Communications as its agency of record in Canada to boost the Italian footwear and clothing brand’s social media and online marketing efforts.

The Toronto PR firm was chosen through word of mouth, says Gino Stinziani, country manager of Geox Canada.

“I was pleased with their strengths that they bring to the table. It marries well with where we are heading as a company,” he says. “I thought that they would make a good partner for us.”

MacIntyre Communications replaces The PR Department, which handled PR for Geox since its launch in Canada in 2003.

“It was, needless to say, a tough decision to make because we had a very strong relationship with Brigitte (Foisy, principal of The PR Department),” Stinziani says. “But we felt we really needed to orient our PR effort toward the direction that we were taking as a company, which is very much a social media and online marketing directive. We needed somebody that really had that strength to build that type of communication skill with the market.”

The agency will also be involved with in-store events, media relations and in promoting Geox’s magalogue and app.

A major aim is to get the Geox brand out to as many people as possible including on the feet of influencers and bloggers, Stinziani says. “We feel that the best way to understand our product is by having it on people’s feet.”

Geox is available in more than 300 multi-branded and corporate stores in Canada.
