Adrian Capobianco on why the Digital Religion conference is a must-attend event

Adrian Capobianco is chair of the advisory committee for Digital Religion

On Oct. 19 the Digital Religion conference kicks off. Digital Religion – or Digital Day as it has been called for the last decade, brings together leaders who will share learnings, experiences and enlightenment on, as the name implies, all things digital.

So why call it Digital Religion? The real question is why not? Everyone today preaches the benefits and importance of praying at the digital altar. You’d be hard pressed to find an agency or marketer who won’t tell you how important digital is to their business and how much they’ve changed to embrace and drive digital adoption within their organizations.

Some of these folks have an uncanny ability to cut through all the noise and stay strategically on track. They know what is important and help guide your business to the Promised Land. On the other hand, some people are “false prophets” and “sinners” who preach and practice the virtues of the latest digital marketing fads. You know the ones. The folks who tried to get you to do a Meerkat campaign after hearing about it at SXSW, those who put a QR code on highway billboards or the ones who #HashTag everything.

So why would you want to attend the conference? Great content, speakers and the opportunity to network and worship with fellow converts. Organizations like Google, CBC and Instagram will share how they use digital strategies to help drive their business and yours. Innovative organizations like Current Studios, Freeride Entertainment and Nymi will share how they’re creating engaging content, driving interactions and connecting our digital and real worlds in new and amazing ways.

And here’s one to digest before the conference — 2015 marks the 10th anniversary of the Ipos Digital Pulse Survey, which polls thousands of agency and client side marketers as well as consumers to understand trends as it relates to various digital marketing activities in Canada.

Special guests to an Ipsos & Blue Ant Media event last week got a sneak peek at the top trends in digital over the last decade. Here are 10 important trends summarized in the Digital Decade Infographic.

Enjoy the reading.
