Quebec’s Groupe V Média has appointed veteran media executive Chantal Gilbert as its new director of media creativity, responsible for the company’s sponsorship and advertising integration initiatives. Her appointment is effective immediately.
Gilbert has more than 25 years of media industry experience, most recently as director of special projects at media agency Carat, where she also spent more than six years as sponsorship and media creativity consultant.
She was also sponsorship director on the agency’s Rona account for more than 10 years, spearheading projects including the TVA reality show Ma Maison Rona – a gold winner in the Television category at the 2003 MIA Awards – which was subsequently turned into an English-language program called My Rona Home which aired on City) . She also brokered sponsorship deals with the NHL, CFL and the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games.
Prior to joining Carat, Gilbert spent 16 months as director of business development for the Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium. She began her career in 1990 at the sports specialty channel RDS, where she held a variety of roles including sales assistant and traffic coordinator.
She moved to Astral Media’s radio division in 2002 as a project manager in media creativity, before assuming a role as account executive, media creativity and web projects, for the Montreal media company’s Rock Détente and Énergie networks.
Sylvain Venne, Groupe V’s vice-president of sales, said that Gilbert “thoroughly understands” clients concerns and possesses an ability to exceed their expectations. “Having touched on every facet of media creativity as an account executive, project manager and consultant, Chantal has developed the overall vision required to understand the issues and challenges ahead and build media solutions that are fully adapted to the needs of our customers,” said Venne in a release.
