In a deal that drastically reshapes Canada’s media agency landscape, IPG Mediabrands is acquiring a majority interest in Media Experts, the country’s largest independent media services firm. Terms of the deal have not been released.
Media Experts will remain autonomous under the IPG Mediabrands umbrella, with founder and CEO Mark Sherman – who founded the agency in 1981 – retaining a leadership role with the company.
Sherman said in a release there was a “cultural fit” with IPG that made it easy to say yes to the new partnership. He said Media Experts’ clients, which include Bell, would immediately benefit from access to innovative new technology, resources and expertise.
“We’re going to learn from each other as this relationship grows,” said Sherman. “Our employees will have access to training and professional development resources that are second to none.”
