Judy Davey, Molson’s former vice-president of marketing assets who was let go by the company at the end of October following a round of layoffs, has been snatched up by ZenithOptimedia Canada.

Davey will join the media agency as executive vice-president and head of activation on Dec. 3. Prior to her 26-years term at the brewer, she had worked as a media planner at Baker Lovick.

Sunni Boot, ZenithOptimedia’s CEO, said she moved quickly to hire Davey after news of her departure from Molson got out.

“It’s massive and we’re absolutely thrilled,” Boot said of Davey’s hiring. “Judy brings so much to the party. She not only knows legacy media, she understands mobile, digital, how to value them, she knows rights and sponsorships… she has a terrific reputation with our partners in the media. And she brings a client lens to things.”

Davey fills the void at the media agency left by Forence Ng, who left ZenithOptimedia in August. According to an internal memo, Davey is set to oversee “video, digital, broadcast, distribution (traffic), and through our Newcast Division content development, sponsorships and events.”
