Marketing wins Magazine of the Year at CBM Awards

Jury of publishing pros describe title as an 'indispensable brand'

Marketing‘s efforts to serve the advertising, PR and media communities across the country were recognized by a jury of its publishing peers Tuesday night when it won Magazine of the Year at the 62nd Canadian Business Media Awards.

The program, formerly known as the Kenneth R. Wilson Awards, focuses specifically on excellence in titles that serve business-to-business audiences across a wide range of industries. In honouring Marketing, which is published by Rogers Media, the jury of editors took note of its multi-platform approach to delivering quality content.

“Trade magazines today need to be indispensable brands in the lives of audiences,” the jury citation read. “Marketing, with its twice-daily e-newsletter bulletins, more than a dozen events and award shows and a considered, dense and meticulously crafted print product is a vital piece of the Canadian marketer’s arsenal.”

Jeromy Lloyd, Marketing‘s managing editor, was surprised but delighted by the win.

“Publishing is a hard business to be in, and Marketing has long had one of the best teams around,” he said. “It’s a real honour to be feted this way by our journalistic peers.”

Marketing magazine has been a great publication for experimentation and creativity, which has allowed us to create some compelling designs to match our excellent editorial work,” added Glenn Taylor, the publication’s art director.

The Medical Post, which is also published by Rogers Media, and B.C. Business received honourable mentions in the top category. Marketing also won a silver award for its Consumer Insights section of the magazine in the Best Regularly Featured Department or Column category.
