Numeris taps former CBC executive for president’s role

Neil McEneaney to succeed Jim MacLeod in January

Neil McEneaneyToronto-based ratings service provider Numeris has appointed longtime CBC executive Neil McEneaney as its new president and CEO, effective Jan. 11.

McEneaney succeeds Numeris (formerly BBM Canada) president Jim MacLeod, who joined the organization in 2001 and announced his retirement in April.

MacLeod led the organization during a key period in its evolution, most notably the 2009 introduction of personal people meters (PPM), which replaced the Mark II ratings measurement systems used for two decades.

McEneaney’s media experience encompasses strategy, business development, digital, programming, operations and finance. He arrives at Numeris after spending the past 15 years with the public broadcaster, most recently as chief business officer.

He played a major role in implementing the company’s strategic plan and a “digital-first” agenda, and was also a key figure in the successful extension of Olympic broadcast rights through 2024.

He also spent nine years in the print industry, holding senior leadership roles at both the National Post and The Gazette.

Numeris chair Gerry MacKrell said McEneaney’s “extensive” leadership experience and knowledge of the broadcast industry would give him the necessary skills to solidify Numeris’ position among the world’s “elite media measurement companies.”

Established in 1944 as the Bureau of Measurement, the organization went through several iterations before being rebranded as Numeris last year.
