On Friday, November 13th, the first ever PacPrint Canada Conference will bring together 17 packaging printing industry experts to discuss and share their insights on the latest trends and technologies that will impact print production in the ever-growing packaging sector.

PacPrint Canada 2009 offers a unique opportunity to network with package printers and converters, brand colour management and proofing specialists, industry suppliers and consumer product company (CPC) decision-makers.

Topics of discussion at the conference will include the impact of converging printing technologies and new digital packaging presses; brand protection strategies; CPC brand colour expectations, plus insights into evolving technologies.

PacPrint 2009 Master of Ceremonies, Ken Leonard will be overseeing discussions such as Brand Colour Management and Proofing for Packaging.

Session Chair Ben Abray, president, Autumn Graphics Ltd., will more closely identify what consumer product companies are demanding with respect to colour consistency and quality, along with outlining tools and processes to satisfy these requirements.

His session will include input from James Lee, manager of technical services/prepress design, Jones Packaging Inc.; Susie Stitzel, solution manager for Design Lifecycle Management, EskoArtwork; Calvin Curtice, manager of the Proofing Technical Applications Group, Eastman Kodak Company; Gary Vogt, key account manager for packaging, GMG Americas and Cori Devlin, technical service consultant, DuPont Imaging Technologies.

Converging printing technologies—hybrid, specialized and combination presses—are increasing efficiencies and adding product value. Andy Fetherman, press division manager Muller Martini, discusses variable sleeve offset press (VSOP) technology; Desmond Oosthuizen, director of corporate development, Jones Packaging Inc. looks at the efficiencies of the company’s 13-station sheetfed offset packaging press, and Marcelo Marziali, flexo division manager, Cenveo McLaren Morris & Todd, discusses advances in flexo print quality and how flexo press capabilities complement the company’s sheetfed offset folding carton division. Finally, specialized digital packaging presses are playing an increasing role in label, folding carton and flexible packaging production. Stan Najmr, worldwide product marketing manager for DI Digital Offset Presses, Presstek Inc.; Kristof Dekekelaere, sales manager Dotrix North America, Agfa Graphics and Rosie Madison, vice president, Industry, Photo and Packaging Marketing, Xerox will be discussing the potential being realized with digital packaging printing.

PacPrint 2009 is being held at the Toronto International Centre, conference room Pegasus A, Friday, November 13, 8:30 am to 3:15 pm. Co-located with Graphics Canada 2009 and PacPrint 2009.
