Pageflex, a developer of variable data publishing and web-to-print solutions, has announced the release of Pageflex iWay 5.4, its first major update to its system since Bitstream (the parent company of Pageflex) acquired the iWay workflow technology from Israel-based Press-sense in May of 2010.

“When we acquired the iWay product line last year, we were excited about how the features and functionality of iWay would enhance our overall product portfolio,” notes Anna Magliocco-Chagnon, president and CEO of Bitstream Inc., in the new product announcement.

The complete Pageflex iWay solution offers process automation to print service providers (from order taking, price quoting, through planning, fulfillment and shipping), allowing printers to automate their online business operations and offer simple solutions for their customers, including personalized web-to-print programs. Pageflex solutions use the patented Pageflex variable publishing engine and Adobe’s InDesign.

The Pageflex iWay backbone has been adopted as an OEM web-to-print solution by major manufacturers including Xerox, HP and Océ, resulting in an installed base of more than 1,500 customers in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
