Five months after stepping down from the helm at Zoom Media, Andy Querin has joined Toronto’s KB Media as president and chief operating officer.
He replaces former KB Media president David Brisson, who is now the agency’s CEO.
Querin was president and chief operating officer at Zoom for four years before leaving in December. Before becoming president, he served as vice-president of sales and marketing as well as managing director, Ontario and Western Canada.
“Andy’s experience speaks for itself,” said Brisson of the decision to add Querin to the KB Media team. “The timing was right to bring someone like Andy in.”
“We’re always looking for the right fit and the right person,” he said. “He could see the vision right off the top and it was very attractive to me to even have a conversation with him.”
Brisson said he wasn’t even aware of Querin’s departure from Zoom when he first reached out to him online.
“I added him to LinkdIn to set up a meeting to discuss Zoom Media and KB and some of the crossover that we have,” said Brisson. “I was just reaching out to make friends, or be friendly with the president of Zoom.”
Querin spent the first part of the year enjoying some down time with his two young sons without a detailed plan for his next career move.
“I didn’t have a specific agenda in terms of only looking at the out-of-home space but… it’s a media that I’m passionate about,” he said. “The revenue in this industry will continue to grow.”
“I think the products we have to offer here are pretty interesting and the opportunity to get back into a leadership role with a growing company that has a pretty bright future is what attracted me here to KB Media,” said Querin.
KB Media launched with its digital mirror advertising products in 2009, and can be found in sporting arenas, athletics complexes, bars and restaurants. The company’s newest venues include Ontario Place, Powerade Centre, The Ballroom, Wayne Gretzky’s and Copps Coliseum.
