Remi Marcoux has stepped down as chairman of printer and media company Transcontinental, handing the position over to his daughter Isabelle Marcoux.

Remi Marcoux announced last September he would step down from the top position of the board but remain a director at Transcontinental.

Isabelle Marcoux, who has been vice-chairwoman of the Montreal-based company since 2008, has been a central player at Transcontinental for a number of years.

Remi Marcoux said he believes his daughter has all the qualities needed for the role.

Isabelle Marcoux said she will continue to support Transcontinental’s transformation toward producing digital products and services.

Transcontinental is the largest printer in Canada and Mexico, and fourth-largest in North America. It is the leading publisher of consumer magazines and French-language educational resources and community newspapers in Quebec and the Atlantic provinces.

It has 10,500 employees in Canada, the United States and Mexico, and reported revenues of $2.1 billion in 2010.
